Mudhouse Gang

Mudhouse Gang is a band of musical misfits riding together to forge an original brand. Born in Akron Ohio, Rick Phillips leads the gang down roads of blues, old-school country and classic hard rock. Rick’s unique lyrics & wailing melodic guitar are complimented by Becky’s tight vocal harmonies, Chuck’s unconventional bass stylings and Doug’s meticulous drumming.

Rick Phillips and Doug Ackerman formed the band along with second drummer Scott Aspinall in 2017 while searching for a new inspired musical direction. This trio released a self-titled debut album in September of 2018. Rick and Doug then became a duo in 2019 and released a second album “Get Yer Demons Out!” in October of 2021. In 2022, mutual friend and bassist Chuck Wingerter started jamming with the band further evolving the gang’s sound and live performance. This lineup released the singles “Blues Out My Window” in 2023 and “Doin’ The Gas” in 2024. Another mutual friend, Becky Tomasi made several guest appearances with Mudhouse adding sweet harmony vocals, officially joining the gang in 2024.

Rick (originally from Akron, OH) has played lead guitar for “folkadelicfunkpop” band Waterband in the early 2000s and is still a current member of the Akron based “folkabilly” band Blonde Boy Grunt & the Groans. Rick spent 6 years (2011 – 2017) living in Germany as lead guitarist for the psychedelic rock band Simeon Soul Charger who became a massive cult success across Europe. Throughout his career, Rick has opened the stage for Daryl Davis (pianist for Chuck Berry), The Pretty Things, Parliament Funkadelic, Richie Havens, Hot Tuna, Kansas, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, D.A.D. (Disneyland After Dark), Stefan Dettl (of La Brassbanda) Guru Guru and Fernando Saunders (bassist for Lou Reed).
