Come sit in on a recovery meeting and hear the real stories of people in your community. You'll experience familiar songs in a brand new light. If your life has been touched by the heroin crisis, you'll find that you're not alone, whether as an addict, sober survivor, friend, or family. If you aren't personally affected, this is a chance to learn what your neighbors are dealing with on a daily basis.
In the last year, we have seen heroin claim the lives of old classmates, coworkers, and friends. Unsure of what else we could do to fight back against this terrifying epidemic, we decided to use the only weapons we have: each other. Our stories. Our music and art. If theatre could have such a profound impact on us just by doing it for its own sake, maybe it can help others when we give it a specific purpose - to foster understanding between those who feel they are unaffected, to remind those struggling that they are not alone, and to trust that a better life is possible, if we come together to create it.
This is a free event but we are accepting donations for The Packard Institute and the Warriors' Project, two incredible local organizations fighting this epidemic.
